Why Buy Our Products?
Especially when used in combination, most household cleaning products are harmful to historic artifacts and facilities, not to mention your staff and visitors. By contrast, our conservator-developed cleaning agents comprise a complete system free from the all-too-common dyes, fragrances, allergens, abrasives and bleaches.
We make our glass cleaner and multi-purpose cleaner using distilled water and sodium laureth sulphate (SLS). This mild cleaning agent is widely used by professional conservators, but is difficult to obtain in safe and useable form even from specialty suppliers. We have also developed a beeswax wood polish based on traditional formulas, and we carry a metal polish with particles half the maximum (-2 micron) particle size recommended by the Canadian Conservation Institute.
Together with our cleaning tools (including linen cloths, cotton cloths, brushes and protective gloves) these agents comprise a comprehensive cleaning system for historic artifacts and facilities. All products come complete with clear directions and warnings, supplemented by extensive online help beginning with our Cleaning Guide by Materials page. Specifically developed for small museums, archives and historic sites, this safe, healthy and straightforward cleaning system is also ideal for use in homes with heritage architecture and artifacts.
